BERNICE ANNA GIESBRECHT
With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Bernice announces her passing on June 12, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre.
She is survived by her daughter Darlene Lamoureux and son Wayne Giesbrecht; 5 grandchildren Darryl, Brydon, Chris, Jordon and Kyla and 2 great-grandchildren Mabel and Isaac. She also leaves to mourn her passing sisters Mabel and Opal, daughter-in-law Debbie, very good friend Edna and daughters Norma and Shirley and many other family members and friends.
Bernice was predeceased by her husband Ben, parents Bill and Lena, brother-in-law Eric, nephew Gary, Brother Glen (Erica) son-in-law Rene and infant daughter Marlene.
Mum was raised on the family farm in the Lowe Farm area. She worked hard on the farm with her 2 sisters and brother. Many meals and good times were enjoyed around the big farmhouse table. After marring Ben in 1937, they moved to Winnipeg, where she and dad raised Wayne and Darlene. Mum always had a pot of soup cooking on the stone and buns in the oven. It didn't take long before Darlene was helping with making buns, priceless memories. Mum worked in factories over the years and always kept the home fires burning.
She enjoyed her family and always gave a helping hand. Bernice enjoyed her game shows and doing the Free Press Jumble. Also watching curling and Baseball. Mum knew all there names and every morning had lively conversations with her sister Mabel about these games and many other things. Darryl helped his Gramma cook many suppers then they'd sit down and watch the Young & Restless, followed by ice cream sandwiches and Wheel of Fortune. Mum avidly donated to many charities, the Winnipeg Humane Society, being one of her favorites. "We'll miss you, till we meet again" "Too ta loo Mum"
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 19 at 11:00 A.M. in Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
