Obituary of Donna George
Donna Marjorie George
(nee Hathaway/Murphy)
September 14, 1944-January 2, 2010
Embraced in the comfort and love of family and friends Donna passed away peacefully at the age of 65. She was predeceased by daughter Shelley, mother Irene, step-father Ernie and sisters Barbara and Lila.
She will be lovingly remembered by husband Don, daughters Jacqueline (Milhau) Gagn, Cori Boudreau, Amanda George, stepchildren Linda, Ronnie, Danny and by grandchildren Danial, Taylor, Holden (Jean-Guy), Madyson, Ryan and Reanna. She is survived by sister Shirley (Doug) Heselwood, brother-in-law Bob (Gayle) George and numerous nieces and nephews.
An avid reader, writer, poet, baker, knitter, painter and mentor, Donna lived life enthusiastically. Versed in a variety of topics, she ably articulated her views. Family was all-important and she was an inspiration to us. Her passion for people endeared her to all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed.
Donna recently retired from Deer Lodge Centre as a Recreation Facilitator. In March 2009, her work was acknowledged in the Manitoba Legislature as a shining example of a hardworking, caring and selfless soul.
We wish to thank the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital (Dr. Van Dyk), CancerCare, especially the Grace Hospital (3N) and Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion.
In accordance with Donna's wishes a gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
Floral tributes are gratefully declined, however, should friends desire, donations can be made in Donna's memory to fund her dream of a Veterans' Tribute at Deer Lodge Centre. In Care of: Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave. R3J 0L3
