Obituary of Richard Geisler

Richard Geisler Peacefully on September 2, 2010 Rick passed away at the Riverview Health Centre with his loving family at his side. Rick will be forever remembered by his daughter Tracy and grandchild Team; sister Marianne, brother-in-law Allen and nieces Melissa and Morgan Paterson. Rick was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Robert Geisler. Rick was born in Winnipeg on May 7, 1952 and grew up in West Kildonan graduating in 1971 from West Kildonan Collegiate. Dad always had a keen interest in cars, so it was appropriate that he would work in Winnipeg at General Motors, Chrysler Canada and then at Ford Motor Company of Canada. In 1993 Rick relocated to Edmonton with Ford and continued to enjoy working there for over 23 years until his cancer returned this Spring. Dad enjoyed going to the stock car races, attending car shows with his ' 61 Olds Cutlass, and always looked forward to trips to the US, Mexico and, of course, Winnipeg where he could spend time with his family and visit his favourite restaurants. Special thanks to all dad's co-workers at Ford for their care and support over the many years, to long time family friend "Nelson" whom he could always count on and was always there and special friends Tom and Jeanette, Garry and Brenda and Hank and Lynne who welcomed Dad into their homes. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Misericordia Hospital 7 East for the care given to Rick in Edmonton. To the staff at the Riverview Health Center 3 East Palliative Care, words cannot express the gratitude we have for the compassion and genuine caring extended to Rick for the last 3 weeks of his stay. You are truly a special group of people and dad enjoyed his talks with each of you especially "Paul" with whom he immediately formed a very special bond. In accordance with Rick's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment will follow in Winnipeg. A celebration of life reception will be held in Edmonton this Fall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Rick's memory to the Humane Society or CancerCare.
