Obituary of John GAWRYLUK

JOHN GAWRYLUK Peacefully on June 29, 2008, John passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 87. John was predeceased by his wife Kay and son-in-law David. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by daughter Marlene (Rick Phillips); granddaughter Debora (Chris) Chimuk of Wpg.; grandson David Stoddart (Grace) of Edmonton; great-grandchildren Jared, Vanessa, Austin and Evan, his sister Helen (Bill) Slashinsky and family. Born on September 11, 1920 to Tom and Mary (nee Jarema) Gawryluk in Sandy Lake, MB. John farmed with his dad in Sandy Lake until he married Kay in 1942 and moved to Winnipeg. They were married for 56 years. John worked in the grocery business most of his life with Midland Fruit and Codville. He was a salesman that everyone loved and was known for his joking friendliness. He was always busy doing something. Gardening in the Summer and making something in the winter. We will remember him everytime we use one of the knives he made and gave us. John loved to spend time with his family. He never missed a family occasion. His great grandchildren would always smother him with kisses even on his last day. His first trip on a plane was just 4 years ago to Bermuda to visit his grandson David. David introduced him to cigar bars, which he loved. After that he had a cigar a day even on the last day of his life. John loved to go to restaurants with Marlene and tease all the waitresses. John will be sadly missed by friends, family and anyone who came in contact with his warm and generous personality.
