Karen Freund

Obituary of Karen Freund

KAREN DIANE FREUND (nee Anderson) It is with heavy hearts that the family of Karen Diane Freund, announces her unexpected passing at the age of 38 years on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Swan and Ethel Anderson, Pete and Freda Johnson, and father in-law Roy Freund. Left to cherish and mourn her passing is her loving husband of 14 years and high school sweetheart Brad, her two sons, the light in her eyes, Matthew and Braeden. Her parents Ronald and Siunn, brothers Craig, Brian (Karen), Curt (Kam), and special sister Rhonda. Her nieces and nephews Carly, Riley, Tayler, Keila, Brett, and Ryan. She was adored by her in-laws Linda, Gerald (Karen), Arlene (Walter), Donna (Steve), as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends . Karen was born in Winnipeg, on December 24, 1970. She attended Machray Elementary, St. Johns High School, and then graduated from the St. Boniface School of Nursing. It was her natural ability to care for others, and give them dignity that took her into a career in nursing. She spent many years caring for people, working at Kildonan Personal Care Home, St. James Clinic, but mostly at Seven Oaks Hospital where she gained the respect of her colleagues. Karen was the most loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend you could ever wish for. She had many gifts, but doing things for others, to make them happy, was what she did. There was not much that made her feel better than planning family events, they really were events! Cooking came natural to Karen but was only made better from the influences of her mother and grandma Anderson. Her life was enriched with the birth of her two boys, Matthew and Braeden. She was an incredible mother. Her life revolved around them. Making sure they were safe, happy, and ensuring they knew they were loved, telling them this everyday. She gave them everything she had, planning their birthday parties, volunteering and doing most of the baking for the school events, and not missing a field trip. As the kids grew, she played the games they wanted, especially manhunt at the lake. Being unselfish, she never asked for anything in return for the great things she did. She was extremely proud of her family. Their accomplishments were only made possible with her love and guidance. She will be truly missed by everyone that she came in contact with. "You will always be the "Babe" Karen; we will miss you tremendously but never forget you". A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, with Pastor Bruce officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Karen's wishes would be a donation in her memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 204-825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044 1442 Main Street
