Obituary of Verna Fowler

Verna Kathleen Fowler March 10, 1924 - April 6, 2010 Peacefully, with her daughter at her side, Verna passed away on April 6, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 86. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Elaine (Ron), brother Charles (Lois), as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Erick (2004), sisters Helen, Caroline and Evelyn and brother Stanley. Mom was born in Wisla, Manitoba to Peter and Mary Olinyk. She worked and lived in Elphinstone Manitoba where she met and married Dad in 1948. Mom worked as a bookkeeper in Winnipeg retiring from Shoppers Drug Mart. She was a kind, compassionate woman of strong unwavering faith and touched many people's lives in her own soft caring way. She was always praying for someone - somewhere. She spent over the last six years residing with her daughter and son-in-law. She was an angel from heaven who added so very much to our lives and could always make us laugh. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Palliative Care for keeping her as comfortable as possible. A special thank you to Father Roland who helped us through a very difficult time. Also Mama's nurses Patty, who provided her with tender physical and emotional support while her daughter was still working - and Louise - who cared for her (and us) in a very special way near the end. Louise your "little cutie pie" will always remember you in her prayers. Prayers will be said on Sunday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd at Grant Ave. with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H. officiating. Interment will be at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Anyone who knew Mom - knew her love of cats. She rescued many felines and provided them a loving home. They in return, gave her their unconditional love. If friends so desire, a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg R3T 0R3. can be made in her name.
