Obituary of Valerie FOSTEY

VALERIE FOSTEY (nee MILLS) February 15, 1942 - June 10, 2009 After a lengthy illness, we sadly announce the peaceful passing of our dear Valerie. Valerie was predeceased by her beloved mother. She will be lovingly remembered by her companion Vern, his children Michael and Deborah and Vern's grandchildren, her father Richard and her sister Marilyn (Dennis) and her niece Marlo (Jamie) and nephews Morris and Shawn and great-nephews Tyler, Evan and Rowan. Valerie had a long working and close personal relationship with Linda. Valerie was born and raised in St. James and achieved 50 years of working in the hair dressing industry in the Cresentwood area. Valerie was especially attentive to her more senior clientele. Valerie was only recently retired and she and Vern were frequent visitors to Deer Lodge Centre (DLC). Valerie was extremely close to her dad. Residents were glad to see both Valerie and Vern and their dog PJ. Valerie lived a simple life enjoying the condo. She had a generous nature and a keen fashion sense and was always seen in the latest and newest outfits. The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, 5E, for caring for Valerie with compassion and dignity on and off during the last several years. Special thanks to her friend and neighbor Darlene for her care and support. Valerie wished to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held on June 17 at 1:30 p.m. at DLC Chapel, 2109 Portage Ave. followed by a reception. Private interment with her deceased husband Ralph to follow in Tolstoi, MB. If friends so desire, a donation to the charity of your choice may be made in lieu of flowers.
