Obituary of Maria Fazenda

Maria Alda Loureno Ferreira Fazenda With great sorrow in our hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Maria Alda Loureno Ferreira Fazenda on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the age of 59, after a two year battle against cancer. Our mother, wife and grandmother (Vo), was born in Bugalhos, Alcanena, Portugal. She married Jose Fazenda (the love of her life since the age of 15 years old). Together they built an empire of love. They were married in Canada and would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary in December of this year. Together they had two loving daughters, Nancy and Sandy, five years apart. We were always a very tight-knit, supportive family. Together we had a great and full life. We spent every opportunity together and are so grateful to have had her in our lives. We will cherish the memories we had with her and will spend the rest of our lives being all the things she hoped for us. She was so kind. She always thought of others first and did so much for the Portuguese Community. She was so good, a wonderful woman, a good friend, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Anytime we needed her she would drop everything and come over to help. Alda Fazenda is predeceased by her parents, Jose Ferreira and Elisa Loureno. She leaves two sisters, Ema and Ilda, nieces, nephews, godchildren and extended family who adored her and friends who wanted only the best for her. She was a wonderful Vo, to her three grandchildren, Lucas (4 years), Jacob (2 years) and Nina Alda (her namesake, 6 months old). Up until recently, she was still watching her grandchildren (netos) whenever we needed her. We are so sorry that they did not have more time with her but we will tell them all about her. She died peacefully and in the presence of those closest to her, Jose, her husband, her two daughters, Nancy and Sandy and her friend and spiritual guide, Msgr. Comeault. It was Jose's birthday when she passed - a sure sign of their deep connection. She passed at home, comfortably, without pain and quietly. She had her friends and family all over to say their goodbyes just before her passing and her wishes to have her friends say prayers and sing was honored. She also had time to give her friends gifts and to say proper goodbyes. We had the time we needed to say farewell but it was still too soon. We would like to thank her extended family and all her friends for visiting her, even on the last day. It meant a lot to her to know she was loved - Muito Obrigado. Prayers will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N with Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P. H. officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Jos Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery (Queen of Heaven Mausoleum). Descansa em paz, Mae, Vo, Alda Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
