Obituary of Helen EZINICKI

HELEN EZINICKI It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother (Baba) and Great Grandmother Helen Ezinicki aged 82 years on August 7, 2009, just two weeks shy of her 83rd birthday at the Concordia Hospital following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her daughter Marie Lawrence (Murray) and their children Nancy (Brent), Crystal (Brad) and her Son Bob Ezinicki (Kathy) and their children Sharon (Mark) and Tracy (Jeff) and her three great grandchildren, Julie, Kailee, and Kaitlynn. Helen is also survived by her brother Walter Linkiewicz (Yvonne). She was predeceased by her husband Adam in 1990 and her parents Anthony and Julia. Helen was born on August 25, 1926 in Winnipeg. She married Adam in 1947 and resided in the house they built in Elmwood in 1948 until her passing. She worked at Eaton's mail-order as a telephone operator for over thirty years and also worked with Adam at their business; Fleet Auto Body Ltd. Helen belonged to the Riverside Lionelles for over 30 + years and, along with Adam, helped those less fortunate. She volunteered many hours bringing joy to handicapped people taking them to the Winnipeg Blue Bomber games, the Shrine Circus and Ice Capades. She also volunteered weekly at the Holy Family Nursing home singing in the choir. Helen's hobby was writing and she spent countless hours at her kitchen table writing letters and sending Christmas, Birthday and Anniversary cards to friends and family. She still had pen pals that she kept in touch with from her high school years. Helen and Adam were able to enjoy some hot holidays in Florida, Mexico, Barbados, but her favorite was Hawaii where she was able to meet a pen pal who resided there. Helen was a very religious woman and attended church regularly. She was a member of the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's League. She sang in the church choir and faithfully met every Thursday at the church to make perogies. It is this faith that sustained her when things got tough. She never complained about her illness or felt bitter, she always said that it was in God's hands and what will be will be. Helen enjoyed her life very much and we will miss her immensely. Helen's family was very important to her and she was always there for us when we needed her. The family would like to thank Dr. Fred Olynyk for his care and compassion, St. Boniface Cancer Care for their kindness and professionalism shown to Helen during her many visits there and Concordia Hospital N3 for looking after Helen in her last days. Prayers will be said on Thursday, August 13 at 7:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt St. at 10:00 am. Friday, August 14 with Rev. Dr. Michael Kwiatkowski officiating. Interment at Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers: Murray Lawrence, Bob Ezinicki, Brad Anderson, Brent Morin, Mark Milne, Jeff Phillips. In lieu of flowers donations in Helen's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook Ave Winnipeg Man. are greatly appreciated. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savoir. She is at peace and we are thankful for the many years we had with her. We love you Mom, so long, till we meet again. Vichnaya Pam 'Yat
