AMELIA (VERA) DREWNIAK It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Amelia (Vera) Drewniak, age 88 years, on May 21, 2008 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Amelia was born March 25, 1920 in the town of Tavankut, Vojvodina. She was the third child of six born to mother Roza and father Kalman Jakovcevic. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Mike Drewniak, parents, sisters Ana, Joca, Vita, and brother Franjo, all of Vojvodina and nephew Kalman. Amelia is survived by one younger sister Katica Saulic, her niece Josephine (Peter) Marincil, great niece Kathy (David) Knezic and their children Dario and Jelena, great niece Marica (Maurizio) Rampone all of Winnipeg as well as nieces Amalka, Gabriska, Anica, nephew Stevica all of Germany, Stipan and Lacika with their families all of Vojvodina, and cousin Frank in Australia. Amelia left her hometown and worked for 3 years in Germany at a US Military hospital. She then immigrated to Canada in 1950, where she worked at Silpit Industries until her retirement. Amelia enjoyed old Hollywood movies and reading history books. She was kindhearted and will be remembered for her generosity, not just to family but also friends. Amelia will be greatly missed by her niece Josephine, whom she treated and loved as a daughter as well as her great nieces Kathy and Marica, whom she looked upon as grandchildren. Amelia's family would like to thank the staff at Middlechurch Home, especially B1 staff for their care and support. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nikola Tavelic Church, 2688 Main St. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Amelia's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Babca, we love you.
