Obituary of Irene DORRINGTON

IRENE ALBERTHA DORRINGTON The family regrets to announce the death of Irene Albertha Dorrington on May 31, 2009. Irene was born October 16, 1913. Irene leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her daughter Rise Barrows, sister Evelyne and husband Oliver Gardner of Winnipeg, granddaughters Raianna Barrows, Renita Johnson and great granddaughter Rilei Johnson of Lakewood, California. She also leaves to mourn, nieces, nephews and two sisters-in-law Ethel Lewsey and Doris Phills. Irene was predeceased by her husband Lewis Charles Dorrington, brothers and sisters. Irene was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents Norman Beresford and Sarah Frances Lewsey. Irene lived and worked in Toronto, Ontario for some years, however, spent the majority of her adult life in Winnipeg. Life's journey presented many struggles for Irene, however, she was very self sufficient and independent. Irene loved to cook and she enjoyed talking to people. She enjoyed her grandchildren and went to visit them in California every year until she was unable to travel. Irene resided at River East Personal Care Home for nine and one half years. She loved watching the "Price Is Right" with Bob Barker. We will best remember Irene for her strong faith in the Lord and her great determination. A very special thanks to the staff at River East P. C. H. She received excellent care and she was treated like family with respect and dignity till her passing. Irene's celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. We would like to extend an invitation to family and friends to join us. Irene will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
