Obituary of Harold DOHERTY
HAROLD LESLIE (LES) DOHERTY
On Sunday, September 21, 2008, Les Doherty passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 79.
Besides his loving wife Ruth, he will be sadly missed by his daughter Brenda Corrigal of Winnipeg; sons: John Doherty of Calgary, Harold (Carla) Duncan of Winnipeg and Glenn Duncan of Winnipeg; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn, his brother Ross and sister Agnes of Saskatoon.
Les was born and raised in Mossbank, Saskatchewan. He was a photographer at both the Saskatoon Star Phoenix and the Winnipeg Free Press. During his time at the Free Press he was President of the Winnipeg Press Club in 1957 and had some of his pictures published in Life Magazine. He went on to work at Taylor Painting and Decorating and eventually Armstrong Printing. He loved to garden, hunt and fish and won numerous master angler awards.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Coates and the 6th floor staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
A private service was held on Wednesday, September 24 at Cropo Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Les's memory to the St. Boniface Research Foundation.
