DONALD JAMES DELORME On December 24, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre, Don Delorme, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother passed away at the age of 63 years. His battle was fought with courage and dignity. Besides his wife Darlene (Sylvester) he is survived by daughter Deana (Paul), and granddaughter Nicole. He also leaves to mourn his passing: sisters Lena (Gord), Julia (John), Sandra (Vito) and Susan (Jamie), brothers: Bill, Barry (Marlene), Walter (Rose), Jim (Karen), David, Rick (Mary), and Wayne. He was predeceased by parents Thomas and Grace, grandmother Mabel, brother Benjamin and In-laws Frank and Grace. The oldest of 13 siblings Don was born in Portage La Prairie, MB. At the age of 6, his family relocated to Winnipeg. Don resided mainly in the North End where at the age of 16 he met his future bride Darlene. They fell in love and married in 1968 and 2 years later had a baby girl. In 1973, they bought their first and only home in Transcona. Don was an active parent who coached his daughter in many sports. Don welcomed his son-in-law Paul to the family in 1991. Don became a proud grandpa in 1996 with the arrival of Nicole. He loved to watch her play sports. He loved his 'scoop'. Don had many different jobs before accomplishing his dream of becoming a Police Officer in 1975. During his 27 proud years with the Winnipeg Police Service, he was also an Executive Member of the Winnipeg Police Association for 16 years. He retired as a Sergeant in Division 11 in 2002. Don was an active member in his community. His contagious smile and laugh were recognized by many. He was a lifelong teammate of his baseball team "The Cubbies." He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and traveling. His favorite destination was Cuba. Don had many, many friends and close neighbors that were like family to him. The neighborhood will never be the same. He will be greatly missed by his wife Dar, Deana, Paul, and Nicole. Our world is a sadder place without you in it. We will miss your stories, laughter, love and your presence. There is a huge void that we will have to fill with our memories of you. Love you Don, Dad, Grandpa. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Oncology, Palliative Care (Richard) and Riverview Health Centre for their compassion and wonderful care of Don. Prayers will be said Friday, January 1, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St with Father Owen Steeves officiating. Interment will follow in Transcona Cemetery.
