Obituary of Edith DAVIDSON

EDITH MAYBELLE DAVIDSON (nee FOLEY) Peacefully on March 26, 2009 at the Misericordia Health Centre, Edith passed away at the age of 90. Edith is survived by her son Clifford and daughter Kathleen (Robert) Leech as well as four grandchildren, their spouses and nine beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Edna, Grace, Myrtle and Laura, sister-in-law Gladys Davidson and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Enzer Davidson, her daughter-in-law Donalene Davidson as well as her parents, William and Annie Foley, brothers Edward, William, Gordon and Melvin and sister Mary. Edith was born Sept. 16, 1918 and grew up in Saskatchewan, moving to Vancouver and Victoria during the war years, where she met her future husband George Enzer Davidson. In 1945 they were married and took over the family farm in Birtle, Manitoba. In 1960 they moved into town, where she became the Secretary-Treasurer for the town of Birtle. Widowed in 1964, she soon decided to follow her children to Winnipeg and in 1969 became the Secretary-Treasurer for the Rural Municipality of Springfield, followed by Secretary-Treasurer for the Rural Municipality of Victoria Beach, retiring in 1984 at the age of 66. For the past 17 years she had resided at Lions Manor and enjoyed her friends there. Music was always a great part of her life and she enjoyed being able to sing whenever possible in choirs and as a soloist. Cremation has taken place. A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date in Birtle. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Edith's memory to a charity of your choice.
