ALICIA WOJCIK

Obituary of ALICIA WOJCIK

ALICIA (ALICE) WOJCIK On January 7th, 2012, surrounded by family who will love her eternally, Alice lost a very determined, private, and courageous battle with cancer. She "danced her last polka in this world and into the next". Mom was predeceased by her father Josef Kroczak in 1983. She will be dearly missed and forever in the hearts of her mother Emilia Kroczak, her daughters: Anja (Kent Arnott) of Winnipeg and Eva (John Bartkowiak) of Maple Ridge, BC, her grandchildren Cole, Mitchell, Tea and Nolan, her brothers Ted Kroczak and Andrew Kroczak along with their respective families and her longtime friend and companion Andrew Hines. Mom was born on August 26th in Poland. She arrived in Winnipeg in 1973 and has lived and worked here until her passing. She was most recently employed with Epic Opportunities, a job that she loved immensely and where she made many close friends over her time there. Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother and she tirelessly encouraged and supported her daughters however she could to achieve persona! and professional success. Mom enjoyed an active social life and touched the lives of many. She read broadly and would offer information on a wide range of subjects. Mom travelled extensively without trepidation across continents and time zones. In earlier years it was with young children in tow. Her favorite destinations were Australia and Hawaii. Her greatest passion was dancing and she was a great dancer- it was mesmerizing to watch her Tango and polka. In accordance with mom’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family ceremony was held on Thursday January 12 2012 and interment took place at Holy Ghost Cemetery on Friday, January 13, 2012. The family wishes to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care, especially Maria and Eloisa who took on a compassionate interest in mom well beyond the call of duty and Gina who was amazing during mom's final hours and ensured that her family was able to be at her side. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Alice's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C OV9. Condolences can be forwarded to Eva Wojcik, 23808 USA Ave., Maple Ridge, BC, V2W 2B9. "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to me" With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay A Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best"
