GEORGE JOSEPH COPPENS


August 10, 1933 - July 30, 2009


After a courageous battle, George peacefully passed away on July 30th surrounded by loved ones.


George leaves to mourn, his wife Esther; children, Barry (Debbie), Jacqueline (Tracy) and Joan; grandchildren, Danielle, Ryan and Claire; his sister Cecile; sister-in-law Annette; extended family, Ray, Esther, Kim (Bob), Kerry (Joanne), Doug (Lisa), Rick, Tyler and Allison as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.


He was predeceased by his first wife Alice; parents, Emile and Emma; brother Harry and brother-in-law Jim.


George grew up in a loving family on the farm near Treherne, MB. After marrying, George and Alice soon moved to Winnipeg and started a family.


He started off as a tireman, went on to work for Reimer's Express and then he started his own successful small engine repair shop.


George was a social butterfly and truly adored his family and friends. After losing his wife Alice, George remarried. He and his wife Esther enjoyed their friends and blended families both at their home in Winnipeg and at their respective cottages in Ponemah and Nutimik Lake.


George had a zest for life second to none and will be forever loved and deeply missed.


A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
