ZITA CITRON Peacefully on February 28, 2010, Zita passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Karoline, her brothers Joseph, Johann, Franz, Leo and Karl and her sisters Marie, Ottilie and Gisela. She will be lovingly remembered by her remaining brother Ferdinand who lives in Germany, her nephews, Manfred and Hart Kapitoler who live in Winnipeg with their families, her niece, Erna Barabas, who lives in Regina with her family and many more nephews and nieces, all residing in Europe. Zita was born in Arbora, Bukowina, Austria on January 15, 1917 and lived and worked in Europe until 1952. In 1952, Zita, her sister Ottilie and her mother immigrated to Canada and made their home in Winnipeg. She was a nurse by trade and eventually was employed by the City of Winnipeg as a Public Health Nurse. She retired in 1982 and enjoyed her retirement years travelling the world and spending time in the summer at the cottage. She was a very creative person and designed her own pictures, which she did in needlepoint. Out heartfelt thanks go to the staff at the Rehab Unit at Deer Lodge Centre for the compassionate and respectful care our Aunt received during the short period of time that she was there. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church on the corner of Stafford and Corydon, Rev. Fr. Jack Doyle officiating.
