Tadeusz was born on December 25, 1920 in Kolomyja, Poland. He joined the Polish Army in 1941, and served in the Middle East, and Italy, which included the Battle of Monte Casino, which he was very proud of. He received many medals and awards from the Polish and British, including the Cross of Valour and the Cross of Monte Casino. He was also a gifted trumpet player in the Army. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 and worked various farming jobs throughout Manitoba until he returned to Poland to meet and marry his wife Marysia in February of 1958. They then started their family. Dad then pursued his career of cooking as a chef, and worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital, Royal Alexander Hotel and Via Rail. The highlight of his career at Via Rail, was cooking for her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth during the Royal Visit in 1970. Dad retired in 1984 but continued his love of cooking by catering at various events including Folklorama. He remained active in the community, and was a member of the Polish Combatants Association Club 13, the Legion and the Holy Ghost Seniors Group. Dad loved to socialize and enjoyed meeting new friends and people. He enjoyed telling jokes and stories from his past and boasting about his grandchildren. Dad was always happy, smiling and had a great zest for life. The grandchildren will miss Grandpa's kisses, bear hugs and his tricks.
