Frank Cassidy

Obituary of Frank Cassidy

Frank Cassidy On June 14, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital Frank (Francis) Cassidy, beloved husband of Alacoque and father of Christian and Franoise (Craig Tustin), passed away at the age of 69. Frank was born in Drumcondra, Dublin in April 1941. He and Alacoque were married in October 1966 then came to Winnipeg to begin a new life. An apprenticed printer, he began his career at The Irish Independent in Dublin and in Winnipeg spent time at Public Press, Comet Press, Acme Printing and, most recently, Admiral Printing. Since retiring in 2005 Frank and Alacoque travelled extensively throughout Europe, Mexico, China and Texas. In January 2010 he returned to Ireland for a final visit with family. Closer to home, he loved spending time in Gimli and in North Kildonan with his family and favourite four legged sidekick Luigi, a.k.a 'Louie'. Frank is predeceased by his mother Agnes, father Patrick and brother Desmond. He leaves to mourn, siblings Peter (Joan), Rosemary (Robert), Anna, Claire (Tom), Kevin (Ann) and sister-in-law Diane. Anyone who met Dad commented on his laid back attitude and his beautiful, twinkling blue eyes. He was always ready for a laugh and loved the lighter side of life. When he was diagnosed with cancer he saw it as a challenge and fought valiantly, never giving up. His porridge making skills were legendary, no matter how hard we tried we could never match them. Dad loved the summer, cutting the grass, gardening and making his Buick the shiniest car on the road. We have so much we want to achieve and needed our Dad to be a part of that. Nothing will be the same without you Dad. We love you and miss you terribly. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday June 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Redeemer on Donwood Drive, Winnipeg. A mass will also be held at Corpus Christi Church in Drumcondra, Ireland. A private interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. The family thanks Craig Tustin, everyone at CancerCare Manitoba and staff at the Emergency and E5 wards of St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
