Obituary of John BOYD
JOHN DAVID BOYD
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John David Boyd, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. On August 20, 2009.
Remaining to forever cherish his memory are his wife Rhonda, sons Ryan and Cole, parents Gordon and Shirley, sister Laureen and nephew Riki, brother Lorne (Jackie) and nephews Landon and Reese.
John was raised in Morse Place, and attended Kildonan East High School, graduating in 1976. He joined the Canadian National Railway in 1976, and worked in Symington Yard until his passing. He enjoyed many friendships during his 33 years with CN. He was a proud member of the Liberty Local (MMF).
As a teenager, he loved motocross racing, and grew to love the fast sports of snowmobiling and jet skiing. He developed life long friends during these years. He was an accomplished cribbage player and enjoyed the thrill of the competition. John was a handyman and spent great amounts of time applying his carpentry skills to his home. His favourite place was at the cabin in Grand Marais, where he loved to spend time with his entire family. All his lake friends will sadly miss him. John's greatest joy was his wife and children and demonstrated great pride when speaking of the accomplishments of his sons. So many were touched by his kindness and his compassion. John will be remembered as a man both good and strong and for the joy he brought to others, and as a person who always did his best.
At this time, our family would like to thank the many friends that have surrounded us in this difficult time. Without your support, we would not have made it through. John, you will forever remain in our hearts. We love you.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Ross Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made in trust to CIBC 1586 Regent Avenue West, Winnipeg Manitoba R2C 3B4: R&C Boyd Education Account, to aid in the post-secondary education of his children.
