Obituary of DAMAZY WAGNER
Damazy Wagner
Damazy Wagner, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, with his family by his side.
Damazy is survived by his wife Irena, daughters Alice (John) Maksymowicz, Eva (John) Karpyza grandchildren Greg (Marla), Anet (Dave), Jessica (Chad) and Alex. He also leaves to mourn his passing sister Jadwiga of Poland. He was predeceased by his infant son Piotr, his parents, brothers and sisters in Poland.
Damazy was born November 19, 1923 in Ziemiany, Poland. He married Irena in 1949 and together they moved to Katowice to begin their family. In 1965, with his wife and two daughters he immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. Damazy worked tirelessly to establish a new home for his family, first working at Inland Steel and later at the University of Manitoba, until his retirement in 1988.
Dad was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was especially proud of his four grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He was thankful to be able to attend the wedding of his oldest grandson just two weeks prior. Dad’s passion was tending to their house, particularly their large garden. He took pride in his home, which he extended to his family. He was there for them whenever they needed him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Burton Abbot for his care and Dr. Peter Bialy for his dedication and compassion as well as the nursing staff of 5 Unit 6, especially Kelly.
