Obituary of Florence Bobowski
FLORENCE STELLA BOBOWSKI (nee MISYK) With sadness we announce the passing of our "Auntie Flo", widow of Frank, on December 3, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Florence was born February 4, 1924, in a whitewashed log house in Walkleyburg, MB, brought into the world by a midwife. She attended a one room school named Brookside. She did the usual chores of the time - milked cows, fed animals, hoed gardens, stooked grain, and other farm related work. She was very proud of her farm upbringing. As was the norm of the times, she ended up in Winnipeg and worked at Moore Business Forms for forty years. She loved her work and all the people she worked with. She worked in several departments and retired in 1983 as Section Leader of the Preliminary Dept. Florence married Frank in March, 1964 and they moved into their Lindsay Street home where they lived together until Frank's death in February 2009. Florence and Frank spent the winters of their retirement in Victoria, BC, which they enjoyed very much. Their summers were spent at their favourite place on earth, their cabin at Sherwood Lake, ON, and with the help and kindness of friends Irene and Jim Carpenter they were able to go there many years longer than normal. In October 2009 Florence moved to Amber Meadows Retirement Residence where she made a number of new friends, and one in particular she so often talked about, Ida. Florence was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank. Also by her mom and dad Michael and Mary Misyk, sisters Minnie Tucker (Verne), Annie Bunio (John), Mary Fisher (George), Olga Wright (Lloyd), brother Elmer Misyk, nephews Larry Bunio and Gerry Tucker and niece Patsy Tucker. She leaves behind a loving family - all those wonderful nieces and nephews and their families that she always considered as her kids, to who she was known as Auntie Flo, or just plain Flo. Florence asked that a special mention be made of Grace and John Shelton, Sally and George Brosnyak, Jim and Lola Fisher, Gail Bobowski and Walter Hrycyna and family, who were always there for her. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Walkleyburg, MB, beside her husband Frank and her parents, brother and sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's name may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L OK6.
