LLOYD EDWARD BATTEN On Tuesday, January 4, 2011, Lloyd passed away at St. Boniface Hospital after a long and courageous battle with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis commonly called NASH Disease; surrounded by his family and closest friends. Lloyd will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Judy; son, David; daughter Dana (Steve), daughter-in-law, Vera (John), and five(5) grandchildren, Evan, Alec, Kristopher, Melina, and Sarah. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Steve in 2002. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Tom McDaniel (Mari) and niece Colleen (Frank). The family would like to thank Steve and Lorraine, Silvana and Dan, Lillian, Allan and Anita, Dr. Kevin Saunders, and Dr. Gerald Minuk for their support and efforts during these difficult times. Lloyd was a proud brother of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for thirty-five(35) years. Until the end, he was an honest, hard-working man and a true craftsman who took absolute pride in everything he did. His workmanship extended into the kitchen, where he was an excellent cook. He and Judy were fortunate to travel the world where Lloyd captured many beautiful pictures and memories. He was very proud of his three children and extended family, Vera, Steve, and John. Most of all he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and spending time with them. They brought much joy, love, and happiness. Please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, the Batten family would like to draw attention to the increasing incidence of NASH, an often silent, sudden, and fatal disease, by directing donations to : Health Sciences Center Foundation (HSCF) Liver Fund 820 Sherbrooke Street Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9 A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 8th at 3:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB (586-8044).
