Obituary of Eugene BARON
EUGENE BARON
August 13, 1929-September 1, 2010
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eugene Baron on September 1, 2010 at the Grace Hospital with his loving and devoted wife at his side.
Eugene will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years of marriage, Barbara; mother-in-law Helena in Poland; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in Poland, USA and Canada as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Sophie and Joseph; sister Mary Zeglinski and two brothers John and Adolf.
Eugene was born in Tarnopol, Poland. It was the most beautiful place as he remembered from his childhood. He always planned to go and see it again. His happy childhood years ended with the exile to Siberia. Miraculously he survived the war camps and travelled to Uzbekistan, India, and Pakistan. He spent several years in Africa where he received his education. After the war he spent a few years in England and then came to Canada to join his family. Eugene loved his homeland, Poland and on one of his trips in 1963 he met his wife Barbara, who was the love of his life. Eugene worked at several different jobs in Winnipeg, because at that time jobs were very hard to get. He spent 38 years at his last job, which was at J.C.E. Industrial Commercial Equipment. He had a problem with his heart for many years, but he liked to work and he worked until he was 65. After that he had heart surgery and so each year he felt more unwell.
He liked flowers, trees, and looking through the window and to observe all kinds of birds. He remembered to feed them especially through the winter. His pleasure in the summer time was going to the forest at 5:00 a.m. in the morning and pick mushrooms and blueberries. He was a very intelligent man, he liked to read many types of books and magazines. They gave him so much pleasure and knowledge.
Thank you very much to the Grace Hospital staff who took great care of Eugene during the worst time for both of us.
Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7 at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue, with Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
