Lynda BALASKO

Obituary of Lynda BALASKO

LYNDA MAE BALASKO (nee Jones) It is with a deep sense of loss that the family shares news of Lynda's passing on February 20, 2011 at the age of 63. Lynda leaves to cherish her memory her son Anthony (Tony) and Kayla, step-sons Richard and wife Sharon of Winnipeg, Alan and wife Pat of Victoria, and Darryl and wife Sheila of Winnipeg; six grandchildren, Amy, Dana, Laura, Allison, Brooke and Alexander; Donna and Bill Shklanka and their daughters Angie and Sherri; as well as numerous friends. Lynda was predeceased by her beloved husband Dan; her cousin, who was like a sister, Maureen; her parents Edward and Mary (Mae) Jones; and Aunt Linda Jones. Lynda was born on April 16, 1947 in Winnipeg. She grew up in the city's west end, attended local schools and graduated from Tec Voc High School. Lynda held a variety of paid and volunteer positions, and most recently worked at Manitoba Hydro. She took pride in her work and loved to meet new friends and colleagues. One of the happiest days of Lynda's life was the day she married Dan, the love of her life. They spent many happy years together. The other great day of her life was the day Tony was born. She was such a loving mother and over many years, graciously welcomed Tony's friends into their home. She is fondly remembered by many as their 'second mom'. Lynda always said that she was so lucky to marry into a wonderful family as the boys and their wives welcomed her into their hearts. Over the years, Lynda was thrilled as she became a grandmother six times. Her presence at family gatherings and celebrations will really be missed. Celebration of Lynda's life will take place on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Ave. Service to terminate at the Chapel. Interment to follow at a later date. Lynda cared deeply for others in need. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynda's memory may be made to Siloam Mission 300 Princess Street Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3. "You brought sunshine to our lives, but we know that now you are safe at home with God, Dad, Maureen, Aunt Linda, and your Mom and Dad."
