Obituary of Ruzica Babi

Ruzica (Rosa) Marijana Babi (nee Butkovic) August 30, 1929 - June 30, 2010 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend Rosa Babi, on June 30, 2010 at Riverview Health Centre with her family by her side. Rosa was predeceased by her beloved husband Imre in 1970. She leaves behind her son Milivoj (Sheila), sisters Blazenka and Lucija, and precious granddaughter Jennifer Rose. Rosa was born in Lokve, Croatia where she met the love of her life Imre. In 1952, they married and had her son Milivoj. She immigrated to Winnipeg in 1959 and began working for Monarch wear and Nygard as a forewoman until she retired in 1988 to care for her little angel Jennifer Rose. Rosa had a zest for life and was known for offering her famous cookies to anyone she met. She loved cooking and baking for friends, family, and neighbours, and could always be found gardening or relaxing in her gazebo reading Croatian romance novels. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses and health care aides at Riverview Health Center's Palliative Care unit for their kind words and treating our Rosa with love and respect in her final days. Prayers will be said Sunday, July 4, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Tavelich Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main Street with interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
