Obituary of WILLIAM PANTING

Bill passed away peacefully on December 26, 2011 at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his parents and sister. Bill leaves to mourn his wife Nettie nee Wynne; children John (Wendy), Gail (Paul), Sandra and Pat (Don). Bill’s 10 grandchildren have cherished memories of escapades with Grandpa; 7 great grandchildren will remember his love and laughter and playing with toys. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Bill was proud to be one of Miss Staples first school patrol at Greenway School in 1936 . His children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren carry on being "patrols". A life member of Community of Christ Church, Bill served in the priesthood for many years. Bill’s example of Christian faith was his greatest ministry at the hockey rink or on the job. Bill fondly remembered his days at Currie Transportation, especially the tractor trains, working at San Antonio Mine in Bissett, bus driving for Winnipeg Transit, and his happy retirement at Treherne. A few days before his passing, Bill commented "I’ve had a great life and been really blessed." Be prayerfully optimistic was his encouragement to all. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 31 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment at a later date at Bethel Cemetery, Treherne, MB. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
