DAVID LOEWEN

Obituary of DAVID LOEWEN

DAVID LOEWEN Saturday July 13th, with the sun shining brightly in the sky, David passed on to another life, with his loving wife, Joyce (Bain) by his side. He leaves behind his children, Pat Spence (Bob), David Lion, Colleen (Greg Shende), grandchildren, Eric (Chantal), Krystal, Derek, Alexa, Michael, and Kerrie, great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Austin, and his brother, Ben (Marg). Dave was blessed to have many other loving family members and friends who came to say good-bye, called, and kept Dave in prayer in his final days. David was born in Roland, MB on February 7, 1932 to David and Agnes Loewen. David worked for the Winnipeg Police Department for over 31 years. Upon retirement, Dave worked for a short while with the Manitoba Legislative Assembly. He then attended Bible school at Springs, and was ordained upon completion of his studies. Dave was the Past- President of the Winnipeg Police Revolver Club and a Director of the Winnipeg Police Association. He was a member of the Winnipeg Police Choir and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. Dave was a long time member of the YMCA and a member of their (Senior’s) Roadrunners group. He enjoyed participating in many sports and travelling as often as possible. Dave loved people and helping others - he donated 110 units of blood in his lifetime. At age 79 he travelled on a church mission to Africa where he assisted in the building of a kitchen for an orphanage. Dave was a person of integrity and honour. He could never give enough or do enough for others. Thank you to the good people at Concordia Hospital in dad’s final days. We feel comforted by your kindness. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Thursday July 18th at Springs Church, 595 Lagimodiere Blvd. at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a donation in Dave’s honour, c/o Springs Church, to continue support of the "Watoto Orphanage in Uganda", a cause dear to his heart. Cremation has taken place.
