MARY KUCY
May 18, 1915 – July 5, 2013
Peacefully on Friday July 5, 2013 at River East Personal Care Home, Mary Kucy passed away at the age of 98 years. She was predeceased by her husband William on November 10, 1970.
Mary was born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba to Ksenia and Stefan Grywinski.
Mom will be sadly missed by her daughters and son-in-law Elsie and Peter Zasitko, Liz Fryfogle, Lovey Toonstra and Iris Peterson; and was Granny to grandchildren Kelly (Bob) Smith, Kim (Derek) Joseph, Lisa (Chad) Morhun, Tod (Laurie) Fryfogle, Gordon (Cathy) Fryfogle, Monica Fryfogle, Blair (Amy) Toonstra, Brad Toonstra, and nine great grandchildren.
Mary was also predeceased by sons-in-law John Toonstra and Gerry Fryfogle, six brothers and their spouses, and three sisters and their spouses.
Mary designed and sewed beautiful dresses and coats for her four daughters. She lovingly dressed them with pride. She lived for her family.
In her younger years Mary worked in Winnipeg for Curly Haas as a designer and she embroidered crests for many athletic clubs.
In 1967 she became co-owner of the Central Hotel in Russell, Manitoba.
The family would like to thank the staff at Irene Baron where Mother resided for three years, and River East Personal Care Home for nine months.
A memorial service and celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, should you wish, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
