It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Henrique Amaral, age 77 at St. Boniface Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife Fernanda. He is also survived by his nephews, nieces, many godchildren, relatives, and close friends in Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, and Sao Miguel.
Henrique was born in Ponta Garça, Sao Miguel, Açores on October 16, 1935 to Manuel Guerreiro d'Amaral and Maria da Piedade Monis, he was the eighth of nine children. He was predeceased by his parents and all siblings.
Henrique married the love of his life Fernanda on February 19th, in 1966 and had celebrated 47 years of marriage. They immigrated to Canada on June 25, 1967 where they settled in Winnipeg. They were blessed to have many godchildren which they considered and treated as their own children.
He had a zest for life and was most happy when surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, telling stories and jokes, and was an active member of the Immaculate Conception parish.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care that Henrique received from Seven Oaks and St. Boniface hospitals and extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Raabe.
Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St North, Winnipeg. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception with Rev. Father André Lico officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
We will forever carry you in our hearts and thoughts. We love you dearly.
