SONIA PELLECK

Obituary of SONIA PELLECK

SONIA PELLECK (nee Block) Peacefully, with family by her side, Sonia Pelleck passed away on July 2, 2013, at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugenia and Hryhory, husband Paul, stepmother Ksenia and step brother Fred. She is survived by her children, Bill (Janice), Don (Sue), John (Sheryl) and Janice (Ed), four grandchildren (Valerie, Monica, Stephen and Amanda) and sisters Anne Lacomy and Olga Krepiakevich. Mom went to work at the Ukrainian Voice in 1962 to support the family after Dad’s passing, where she was employed until her retirement at the age of 65. She worked and cared for us tirelessly and without complaint, although it must have been incredibly difficult financially, mentally and physically. She was one incredible woman and a great Mother! After her retirement, life was easier and she was able to share many enjoyable years with family and friends, and best of all, her cherished grandchildren. Mom was an active member of the St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral throughout her childhood and adult life, until her health made it difficult for her to continue. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 820 Burrows Avenue. Father Alexander Harkavyi officiating The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home for their excellent care of Mom during the past 2 ½ years. We would also like to thank Father Harkavyi for attending at Mom’s bedside. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s name may be made to the Park Manor Personal Care Home Building Fund, 301 Redonda St. Winnipeg, R2C 1L7 or to St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 820 Burrows Ave. Winnipeg R2X 0R2.
