ANTONIO TAVARES
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Antonio, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, on July 4, 2013 at the Seven Oaks Hospital.
Antonio will be deeply missed by, his loving wife of 52 years, Helena, his daughter Maria "Saozinha" (Manuel) Pereira, sons Antonio (Gail) Tavares and Leonardo (Gina) Tavares, grandchildren Joshua and Melanie Pereira, Daniella and Brianna Tavares.
He was predeceased by his parents Luis and Maria da Conceicao Tavares, three sisters and two brothers.
Antonio was born on June 22, 1932 in the island of Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, and moved to Winnipeg in 1972.
Prayers will be held on Monday, July 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue West.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital on the 5th floor Unit 1, 2, and 3 for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Antonio’s name to Alzheimer or Kidney Foundation.
You will be forever in our hearts.
