Anne was also survived by her sister, Sophie Huebert, cousin Vonne Zurba, aunt Anne Morhalo and friend Therese Ball..
Anne was predeceased by her parents Luke and Irene Stelmach, brothers in law Edward Huebert and Vance Laclaire, sister in law Pat Laclaire and nephew Vance Laclaire.
Anne was born near Lviv Poland on February 10, 1924. She immigrated to Canada at the age of seven, grew up in the town of Bird’s Hill Manitoba and later attended United College (University of Winnipeg) where she studied science. Anne worked at the cordite plant and after the war Anne met her life-long partner Nicholas Kushnier. Anne and Nicholas were married on March 2 1946.
In 1952, Anne and Nick moved with Randie and Craig to East Kildonan, where their family expanded with the births of Michelle, Roxanne and Kevin. Their home on Dunvegan Street was Mom's pride and joy, second only to her family who meant everything to her. Mom‘s beautiful garden was always the envy of all the neighbours.
Mom was a very creative, determined, independent and fun loving person. She loved to learn new things and travelled extensively with her husband and young family. Mom was an extremely talented artist, designer and seamstress and never tired of sewing "Anne Kushnier" designer clothes for all her family and for herself.
Mom was a very good cook and enjoyed cooking and entertaining all her family and friends at every special occasion. She wowed us with the likes of ten course meals, topped off always with amazing desserts.
Mom was a wonderful mother who made sure that all her children went to university and learned an appreciation of the arts and music. Mom also had a soft spot for all her grandchildren and loved them dearly. She was always amazed by how many grandchildren and great grandchildren she had and felt very blessed to have so many people to love and who loved her. Mom knew this right up to end.
Mom, you were a unique individual. We love you and will miss you very much. You made the world more special and you will always be in our hearts.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
