OLIMPIA JESUS DE PAULA

Obituary of OLIMPIA JESUS DE PAULA

OLIMPIA JESUS DE PAULA March 9, 1950 - June 26, 2013 On June 26, Olimpia passed away suddenly in the arms of her daughters after a hard fought battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Left to forever cherish her memory is her two daughters, Elizabeth (Jessie) and Julieta (Steve). Her memory will be treasured by her grandson, Jace, who brought her much joy. Olimpia will also be remembered by her brother Manuel (Fatima), her nieces Ana and Rita, and many relatives in Portugal and France. Olimpia will be reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Vicente. She was also predeceased by her parents, brother and sister. Olimpia filled her life with deep aspirations. A strong work ethic was instilled in her by her family at a very young age. She carried this value with her when she left her hometown of Rapoula da Coa, Portugal, to come to Winnipeg in 1972. Olimpia’s ambition led her to achieve many of her dreams. She easily overcame the challenges that came with moving to a new country. Olimpia did this by taking every opportunity she could to better herself and her family. She placed a high value on education by constantly striving to learn more, and taught her daughters to do the same. With her knowledge and determination she successfully ran a commercial cleaning business in which she took great pride in managing. Her daughters are forever grateful for the amazing person that she was and for teaching them the power of ambition. Olimpia was a truly genuine person. She loved her daughters unconditionally and was very proud of them. Her greatest moments were spent with her family. Olimpia enjoyed being around people and being involved in the Portuguese community. She always had honest advice to give and warm thoughts to share. She had many friends who loved her and appreciated her fun loving character. Olimpia was a strong person all of her life and this continued throughout her illness. She fought her illness as she did all challenges she faced in life; by seeking every opportunity and staying strong. Her strength throughout her battle was truly admirable as she fought to keep a smile on her face for her family. Her family and friends will always admire her positive nature and courage. She will live on through her daughters and grandchildren. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3rd, at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street N. with Rev. Fr. Andre Lico officiating. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. I will look for you in every sunrise and in every sunset. I will reach for you with every breath I take until we meet again. Always loving…Always loved.
