LILIAN JOYCE GERALDINE (GERRY) PURDY (NEE COULTER)
With deep sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Gerry Purdy on June 20, 2013.
Gerry will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 64 years Carman, daughters Brenda (Flemming) Engbaek, Debbie (Steve) Parsons of Victoria, BC, Janice (Randy) Van Vliet, grandchildren Pam (Gregg) Parker, David (Lauren) Engbaek, Jeff (Amanda) Parsons, Evan Parsons, Tyler Van Vliet, great-grandchildren Erik and Sabrina Parker, sister Christina McIsaac and extended family and friends.
Gerry was born August 2, 1929 at Coulter, MB residing in Stonewall and Inwood during her youth before becoming a long-time resident of Winnipeg's North End.
She was employed at Robinson, Little & Company where she made many lifelong friends. Gerry’s interests included curling, bowling, golfing, needlework, sewing and baking. In her retirement years she enjoyed several cruises, traveling to Victoria to visit family, time at Hillside Beach and attending her grandchildren’s activities and sports. As well Mom looked forward to lunch and shopping until you drop on Saturdays. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was very compassionate in taking care of Dad.
The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk, Megan Burfoot, the nurses at Cancer Care, paramedics Heather and Chris, Dr. Fredrick Goeke and Shannon of Seven Oaks General Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 130 Nassau Street N. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue.
