Daughters Donna, Irene, Susana (Fred) Buffi; son Peter; grandsons Julian (Irene), Andrew and Michael (Susana/Fred); great grandsons Randolph and Jules (Julian) are joined in our love and loss of a strong presence who will forever be in our hearts. Nephews Henry, William, Richard, Frank and nieces Mary, Wanda, Frances (Joszefa/Feliks), nephews John, Adolf (Wally) Feliks and niece Mary (Marcelina/Aleksander) in Ontario; niece Bonnie (Buguslava) Czyzyk of Edmonton and nephew Walter (Victoria/Waçek) Rome, Italy fondly remember their aunt. Predeceased by husband of fifty-one years, Andrew Dul (m. in 1951); mother Maria; brothers Feliks and Aleksander (Hamilton, Ontario) Waçek (Rome, Italy); sister Janina (Wroclaw, Poland). As a child she witnessed loss of father Adolf, sisters Helena, Valerie and brothers Henry, Sebastian, her home, and a chance of happy childhood in her native Poland brought by the Nazi terror of WWII and Soviet occupation. Despite hardships, Sophie built a productive life emigrating to Canada in 1949 to join her brother Feliks and mother Maria in Hamilton, Ontario before travelling west to work at the Ninette Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Manitoba, then settling in Winnipeg to work, marry and start a family. With every busy task, she took pride in being independent, resourceful and frugal, teaching us the beauty in the simple pleasures of daily life whether fresh linens and flowers on the table, or friends dropping by for tea and company. Service was held at Holy Ghost Church on Saturday, June 8. Honorary pallbearers grandson Julian Chan (Kamloops), nephews Walter Wysocki (Rome, Italy), John Wysocki (Hamilton) and William Wysocki (Toronto) were with us in spirit, as nephews Feliks and Richard Wysocki; grandsons Andrew and Michael Buffi, son-in-law Fred Buffi and son Peter Dul assisted with interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
