Obituary of LUIZ GUSTAVO DE SOUZA

It is with deep sadness that the family of Luiz Gustavo de Souza announces his sudden passing on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 42, in a tragic car accident in Winnipeg. 

Gustavo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 6 years, Aline; children, Noah and Helena; brother, Jose Carlos de Souza; and numerous other family members and friends. Gustavo was predeceased by his parents, Jose Maria de Souza and Maria Paula Bitencourt, who passed away in 2023 and 2024.

Gustavo was born in 1982 in Brazil. He had a degree in Communications and was passionate about drones, being a certified drone pilot in Brazil and Canada. Gustavo started dating the love of his life and best friend Aline in 2015, and soon they started building a life together with her son Noah, with whom Gustavo was a friend, a parent and a role model. The family immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 2018, and their daughter Helena was born in September 2020, which brought so much joy to their lives. Gustavo was a caring father, who always put family first, and worked tirelessly to support them.

In addition to absolutely adoring his family, and being a dedicated father and husband, Gustavo was passionate about cycling and swimming and loved the outdoors, having enjoyed many camping trips with Aline and the kids.

Gustavo was more than just a family man; he was a man of integrity, kindness, and humour, sharing his contagious laughter with everyone around him, and always helping others in times of difficulty. The community in Winnipeg will remember him as a kind and generous man who would spare no effort to help anyone who needed him.
