Obituary of LORNE KEMASH
Surrounded by family, Lorne peacefully passed away on January 18, 2025. “Papa”, as he was more commonly known, had a wit that brought smiles and kept others on their toes.
Papa will be remembered for sharing many stories of working in northern Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. Specifically, his treacherous drives on the winter ice roads and life at camp. He enjoyed his work and was always willing to use his mechanical skills to help his family. We knew Papa was just a phone call away when the car needed new brakes or an oil change. Papa loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was so proud of each of them. He loved watching them at various sporting events and never hesitated to wear a jersey during the playoffs.
Thank you to the wonderful staff on CD2 at Riverview Health Centre for the care and compassion provided to Papa during his time there. It was obvious how well staff connected with him when his face would light up upon greeting him. The outings, BINGO games, root beer prizes and spending sunny afternoons listening to music outside were continuously a part of his daily living. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your efforts and contributions to Papa’s quality of life.
Respecting Lorne’s wishes, there will be no formal service and a private interment will be held at a later date. In memory of Papa, enjoy one of his favourite treats: an ice-cold root beer, iced tea, scotch mint or wafer cookie.
Papa, you will be missed! Listening to Johnny Horton and Elvis will not be the same without you here.
