Obituary of EDWARD JOSEPH FASERUK
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Husband, Dad and Gigi on January 12th, 2025 at the age of 93.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years Anne; daughters, Sandra (Ron) and Wendy (Paul) and son, Randy (Zorianna) as well as grandchildren, Sara (Matt), Laura (Kurt), Marisa (Sheldon), Kyle (Caitlin), and Mia; great grandchildren, Tag, Ayla, Jaxon, Oaklee and Ben. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Mary; brothers, Steve, Tom, Alex, John, Sam and Peter and sisters, Jean, Helen, Anne and Sonja.
Ed was born on September 2nd, 1931 and spent his childhood on the family farm in Polson, Manitoba where he was the youngest of 11. He moved to Winnipeg at 18 to work various jobs, mostly in welding, and then eventually at Canada Post. He met Anne through friends and was married in August 1954. Ed was not the type to sit still so he could be seen puttering in the garage, house or around the yard. He was always there when one of his children needed help fixing things or just to lend his support. He was also an active member of St Joseph’s Church in the Men’s Club and Knights of Columbus – Fr. Shyshkowich and Canon Luhovy.
His family meant the world to him. Dad was proud of his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments and wanted nothing but the best for them. All he ever wanted was the whole family to be together for every celebration and holiday throughout the year. Even the grand-dogs would run to the door to greet him to get their cookie. The last 7 months while in the hospital and Personal Care Home were tough on him, he always wanted to come home. When we told Dad we’ll be back to visit, his response was always “family first”. We miss Dad so much.
We thank the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home (unit 5A) for all their compassion and kindness.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue with Fr. Ivan Dzhur, CSsR officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. The service will also be livestreamed on the Church’s YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=-AD9QA62TM8 .
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ed’s memory to St. Joseph’s Boiler Project or a charity of your choice.
VICHNAYA PAM’YAT
Remember me in your heart, your thoughts,
and your memories of the times we loved,
the times we cried, the times we fought,
and the times we laughed, for if you
always think of me, I will never be gone.
