It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Erin, December 31, 2024, at the age of eighty-nine.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Morris, her mother and father (Annie and Mike Popadynec) and all her siblings (Andy, Mike, Katie, Charlotte, Minnie, Alec, Barney, Sophie, Joe, Mary, Ollie, and Jean). Rose is survived by her son, Morris (Karen), and her grandchildren, Daniel (Aleena) and Meghan (Mark).
Rose was born on the family farm near Wynyard, Saskatchewan and was one of twelve children born to Mike and Annie (Kohuch). As a young woman, Rose moved to Winnipeg, where she met and married Morris Erin. Rose and Morris were blessed with one son, Morris Frederick (Morrie).
Friendly, gregarious, and an avid conversationalist, Rose regaled in her daily chat sessions with family members and friends around the Grant Park area. Failing health in her later years curtailed her social activities; however, she still enjoyed the sanctity of her home. Rose was deeply religious and in the later years took great comfort in studying religious texts. Rose will be missed.
In respect of her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Service of Remembrance will be held for Rose on Saturday, August 30, ten o'clock in the morning, at the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
