Obituary of LUIS ANTONIO LEMUS TEJADA
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Luis Antonio Lemus Tejada, age 62, of Winnipeg, MB, Canada, who peacefully left this world on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Luis was born on October 17, 1962, in Nueva Concepcion, Chalatenango, El Salvador, to Nicomedes Lemus and Felix Lemus. He was a loving husband to his wife, Maura Lemus, whom he married on December 8, 1981, at the age of 17. Together, they shared a beautiful, enduring marriage of 43 years, built on love, respect, and a shared passion for the agricultural life they led in Aguacatio, El Salvador.
Luis’ greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family. He found peace in riding his beloved horse, Cantina, and cherished spending time with his wife, mother, children, and extended family. His simplicity and contentment were reflected in the things he loved most: multiple cups of coffee and his cherished cowboy boots.
At the age of 27, Luis made the courageous decision to move his family to Winnipeg, Canada, in pursuit of a better future. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for him and his wife, Maura, and their children. It was here that their family grew with the arrival of two more children, and they continued to embrace life together. Every summer, Luis took great joy in taking his family to every beach in Manitoba, creating cherished memories along the way.
Luis was a man of remarkable work ethic, known for his dedication and hard work. He believed that no matter the job, it should always be done with excellence, and he taught this lesson to all who knew him. Luis earned the respect of everyone around him through his unwavering commitment to his family and his work. He was a father figure to many, offering guidance, love, and support to countless nephews, nieces, and friends, always reminding them to help others selflessly.
Luis spoke often of his extended family with immense pride and love. His desire to reunite his children with his extended family in El Salvador was a reflection of the deep bond he shared with them. His passing has left an irreplaceable void, and the love they had for him will never be forgotten.
Luis had a deep love for his homeland of El Salvador, and it was his dream to one day retire there, surrounded by the beauty of the land and the love of his family.
Although we grieve his loss, it gives us comfort knowing that our dad will be the first one to receive us when we meet him in heaven. His faith and love for his family continue to guide us, and we know that he is now at peace, awaiting us with open arms.
Luis leaves behind his devoted wife, Maura Lemus; his children, Luis (Emma) Lemus, Edith (Garrett) Burchill, Yolanda (Neville) Lemus, Sonia Lemus, and Abraham (Kelly) Lemus; and his 10 beloved grandchildren, Luis, Antonio, Felix, Enrique, Hailey, Athena, Catalina, Elena, Jasleen, and Xander. He is also survived by his brothers, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Luis’ passing has left a profound impact on all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family will live on through the countless lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held in Winnipeg on January 10, 2025, Parroquia Nuestra Señora De La Asuncion. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring his life and celebrating his memory.
