Obituary of WIESLAWA (ZOSIA) MERTA

WIESLAWA (ZOSIA) MERTA November 19, 1929 - February 16, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wieslawa (Zosia) Merta on February 16, 2017 at the age of 88. Wieslawa was born in Sobkow, Poland and had 7 siblings. Three of her sisters live in Poland and her four brothers are deceased. Wieslawa was married to Stanislaw (deceased in 1993) in 1951. She lived in Gorzow Wielkopolski since 1952 where she raised her two sons Andrzej and Janusz. Wieslawa came to Canada in 1994 to be with her sons and in 1995 she became a Canadian Citizen. Wieslawa lived in Gillam MB for a few years before finding her own place in Winnipeg. She loved to travel and had visited every province going west very frequently. She enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren Krzysztof, Marcin (deceased), Magdalena, Ashley and Mathew. Wieslawa was a very strong and happy woman. She always found herself in tough situations and always helped others. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. In August of 2015 Wieslawa moved to Beacon Hill Lodge until December and that's where she moved to Holy Family Nursing Home where she called it home. Special thank you to the staff at Holy Family Home 2B St. Paul for making Wieslawa comfortable from the very beginning to the very end.
