Obituary of EDWARD BURTON BOWMAN

EDWARD BURTON BOWMAN March 22, 1935 - January 17, 2017 It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our dear father and gramps on Tuesday, January 17 at the Health Sciences Centre. Born in Winnipeg, he lived all his life in West Kildonan, except for three years in Port Arthur, Ontario in the mid 1950s. Burt was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Bowman, his sister Mary Smith, and brothers Jim, George and David Bowman, his sister-in-law Pat Armstrong and brothers-in-law William Bauer and Larry Smith. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Lee Bowman (Karen), Donna Emeno (Chris), Geoff Bowman, and Nancy Broza (Greg), grandchildren Jeremy Bowman, Ryan Bowman (Charlene Braun), David Bowman, Christopher Emeno, Michael Emeno, Danica Broza, Melissa Broza, and great granddaughter Aubree, sisters-in-law, Val, Annette and Dolores Bowman and brother-in-law, Terry Armstrong and many nieces and nephews. Burt worked at the T. Eaton Company from the age of 16 until his retirement 41 years later. He was a much loved and loyal employee, managing several different departments throughout the years. He maintained his friendships with his Eaton colleagues at a regular weekly coffee club and attended Eaton retiree annual functions. Fifty fabulous summers were spent with his family at the cottage at Winnipeg Beach, where many wonderful memories were made. He also enjoyed travelling to England and Scotland as well as many other European countries, Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, Palm Springs, Mexico and Vancouver. In accordance with his wishes there will be no service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Lord Selkirk RFM Pipe Band at 11 Easy Street, Winnipeg, MB R2N 3B4 or the charity of your choice.
