ARLINDO LOPES

Obituary of ARLINDO DIAS LOPES

Arlindo Dias Lopes March 12, 1961 – January 1, 2017 It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Arlindo Dias Lopes. With his family by his side Arlindo passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 55. Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 33 years Helena, his son Marco (Tania) and his soon to be granddaughter, his daughter Monica (Jarrett), his sister Bela, his brother Pedro, his mother and step father Leontina and Armenio, his father and step mother Orival and Silvia, his nephew Cristiano, all his cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family. He will be forever loved and remembered by all his family and friends. Arlindo was also predeceased by his brother Joao. Arlindo was born in the small town of Malhapao, Loures in Portugal. At a young age he left Portugal with his family to come to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. Here is where he met his wife Helena and together they raised their family. He enjoyed his work as a framer, and always used his many talents to help family members and friends with many home projects. Of all his hobbies, spending time with his family was what he valued most. If it was having the weekly family Sunday lunch, enjoying a movie, or watching Portugal and Benfica play a soccer game, he loved spending these moments with his family. He always enjoyed having get togethers with his friends and family. He will always be remembered for his playful attitude, his sense of humor, and being the life of a party. He always seemed to find music at any party he went to, which would end up with him and his wife dancing for hours on end. He always found a way to put a smile on the faces of those around him. We will never forget everything you have done for us. You will always be in our hearts and prayers. We love you more than you know. Vigil prayers 8:00pm on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am on Friday, January 6, 2017; both at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. North. Interment at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery.
