MARIA CHRISTIANSEN

Obituary of MARIA CHRISTIANSEN

MARIA CHRISTIANSEN MARCH 9, 1920 – JANUARY 10, 2015 Our dear Maria’s journey has come to an end. Maria Christiansen “Oma” faced many challenges in her life before she was taken from us, little by little, suffering the irreversible decease of Alzheimer/Dementia. Maria was predeceased by her husband, our father Ingwer Christiansen on October 18th, 1985 and her four brothers, two sisters in Germany and son-in-law Lucian Gietz. Maria will be dearly remembered by her step-daughters Ellen Gebhardt (Otto), Regina Gietz and their families and will be sadly missed by her sisters Theresa and Franziska in Germany. “Thank you, Mom, Oma and Oma TicTac, we shall not forget the years you gave us, you will always be with us, for “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” We thank the caring staff at Tudor Home for making our Oma’s final days comfortable and family members and friends who took the time to visit Oma and hold her hands in her darkest days. A very special thank-you to Mrs. Audrey Johnston who visited with Oma on the days we could not be there. In keeping with Maria’s (Oma’s) wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. A maple tree will be planted at Maria and Ingwer Christiansen’s favourite place, they called: “Engel’s Ruh” “the cottage at Lake Winnipeg.” “Komm’ gut nach Hause, Oma” und “Ruhe in Frieden”.
