Obituary of PAUL STOYKO

PAUL STOYKO Peacefully, with his family by his side, Paul Stoyko died in his home on April 17, 2014. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Paul was born December 20, 1919, and was predeceased by his wife, Anne. He will be deeply missed by his children, Dianne (Jim) and Bob (Donna), his five grandchildren, Jared (Mary), Nicole (Josh), Ryan, Cody, and Hanna, his great grand-daughters Avery, Briyanna, and Lacy, as well as several nieces and nephews. On July 18, 1942, Paul married the one and only love of his life, Anne. They were devoted companions whose 69 years of marriage were full of active socializing, dancing, and volunteering at the Holy Family Nursing Home and Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Some of Paul and Anne's most memorable moments were spent visiting family in the states of Washington and Colorado. The family's summers at Falcon Lake were always filled with lively socializing and card playing, especially cribbage, at which he was an ace player. No one could add up the score quicker! Paul loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and the many friends who dropped by the cottage. Paul was a caring soul with a sense of humor and a talent for storytelling that will be remembered with warm memories and heartfelt smiles. His optimism attracted friends of all ages. He drew comfort and peace from his steadfast Catholic faith. Paul enjoyed a 40 year career with Canadian National Railway, starting in the Wheel Shop and advancing to Supervisor. Over the 32 years of retirement, Paul would hear from his CNR co-workers His many friends respected his opinions and appreciated his style of supervision. The family offers special thanks to Dad's devoted caregiver, Lito, who spent the past two years providing Paul with care and compassion that enabled him to remain in his home. Thank you, to Palliative Care and Home Care, especially to the kind and caring Sebastian, Moses and Brian. Announcement of a Memorial Service will be published at a later date.
