KRISTINE LOUISE HANSEN

Obituary of KRISTINE LOUISE HANSEN

KRISTINE LOUISE HANSEN (September 28, 1948 – February 13, 2014) Kristine’s life was cut short by complications in the wake of treatment for cancer. Hers was a full life of intellectual enquiry and practical activism for social justice. She was predeceased by her son Adam Russell and is survived by her husband John Hample, brother Ken Hansen, sister-in-law Leonor Cedillo and her dog Griffin. She taught developmental psychology at the University of Winnipeg for more than 30 years, having retired as an academic and faculty union president in 2012, even as she was overtaken by bereavement and illness. Cremation has occurred, and flowers are gratefully declined. Friends, colleagues and former students who wish to commemorate Kristine’s life are asked to consider donating to the Kristine Hansen Scholarship in Labour and Equity, administered by the University of Winnipeg Foundation.
