ALLAN E. ANDREW

Obituary of ALLAN E. ANDREW

ALLAN E. ANDREW July 12, 1946 – November 20, 2013 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the Andrew family announces the sudden passing of Allan, at his home at the age of 67. Al was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 43 years Dianne, sons Curtis (Bev), Wade, Mark, and daughter Brooke (Aldo) Salazar, grandchildren Brianna, Cody, Cassidy and Jessica. Also left to mourn his passing is his brother Hugh (Judy), sister Mary Ellen (Len) Hogue, brother-in-law Kevin (Gayle) Kostyniuk and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Gowan and Alice Andrew and grandson Joshua Salazar. Al was a loving, intelligent man who was lucky enough to retire at age 50 after 30 years working for the city of Winnipeg. He retired young but still enjoyed meeting “the Boys” for coffee every Friday. Al’s early retirement was spent riding his motorcycle around the highways outside of Peachland, BC, where he lived with Dianne for 6 years. More recently, he enjoyed a quiet life in his country home with his peanut butter and honey sandwiches for lunch, and his famous home-made strawberry jam toast at bedtime. Nothing was more important to Al than his family, and he would do anything for his kids. His family loved him deeply in return, and we are all heartbroken at his passing. We love you Dad. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the first responders. Your heroic efforts, kindness and compassion was sincerely appreciated. A private family service will be held with cremation to follow. If desired, the family requests donations to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
