Obituary of Janina RALCEWICZ

JANINA RALCEWICZ (nee Wawrzynska) Janina passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2008. Janina was born in Poland on September 15th, 1921. After the invasion of Poland she was sent to Germany where she spent the duration of WW2 working on a farm. Post war she immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg where she met her husband Jozef. They were married in 1953 and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on August 23rd, 2008. "Jeanie" was a wonderfully empathic person and was liked by everyone who met her. She always put the needs of others before her own. She loved children, animals and of course her garden. Family was especially important and she was the glue that kept it together. Of her five siblings only her sister, Franciszka Mazarska in Poland, survives her. Jasia leaves to remember her; husband Jozef, sons Karol and Christopher, daughter Wanda and her husband Phil and grandchildren Chris and Carolyn Simpson. Thank you to the staff of Health Sciences Centre especially those on GA-5. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
