Obituary of MARY DERBACK

MARY DERBACK Mary Derback (nee Baizer) passed away peacefully on November 13, 2013 at age 102. She was born on May 23, 1911 in Kassow, Poland. Mary Derback arrived in Canada in 1913 on the sister ship to the Titanic with her sister Katy and her parents. She was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters and her beloved husband Nicholas Derback. Mary is survived by her daughters Adeline Korengel (Florida); Patricia and husband Ken James (Vancouver); and son, Glen and wife Linda Derback (Colorado); eight grandchildren (Gerry James and wife, Alice; Janice James; Kristin James; Ed Korengel; Gary Korengel; Kathy Korengel; Torri Metz and husband, John; Ryan Derback and wife, Jeannene) and her eight great grandchildren; Christopher, Cynthia, Spencer, Grant, Nora, Angel, Mia and Peyton. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling and following activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses community over the last 50 years. Mary lived on Aikins and Burrows for 80 years and for the past 5 years she resided at the Middlechurch Home. Mary was a gracious lady and a loyal friend who was always willing to lend others a helping hand. She will be dearly missed by family and all who have crossed her path over the past 102 years. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
